As the year draws to a close, Victoria will light up with the return of Always Live 2024, a 17-day festival celebrating the very best of live music. Taking place from Friday, 22 November to Sunday, 8 December. This year’s event promises an unforgettable experience for music lovers across the state. With a jam-packed lineup featuring over 289 artists performing at more than 65 events. The festival will offer something for everyone, from intimate gigs to grand outdoor shows.
A Festival Like No Other
Now in its third year, Always Live 2024 has firmly established itself as a must-attend event on Victoria’s cultural calendar. The festival spans iconic venues and regional centres, ensuring that live music reaches every corner of the state. Whether you’re a fan of rock, pop, electronic, or indie, there’s an event that will strike a chord with you.
One of the festival’s highlights is the much-anticipated return of Jack White to the Corner Hotel. A venue that holds special significance for the rock legend. It was here in Melbourne that White famously conceived the iconic riff for “Seven Nation Army”. Which went on to become a global anthem. White’s appearance at the Corner Hotel is a homecomng of sorts. Offering fans a rare chance to see the artist in a setting that inspired one of rock’s most recognisable tunes. His tour also includes a stop at Ballarat’s Civic Hall, where he will perform tracks from his latest album, No Name.
A Stellar Lineup
Always Live 2024 boasts an eclectic lineup of artists, each bringing their unique sound to the festival. Art rock innovator St. Vincent will perform three exclusive shows at the Palais Theatre, Her Majesty’s Theatre in Ballarat, and as part of the Intimate Audience series, which pairs live music with a Q&A and dining experience. St. Vincent will be performing songs from her latest album, All Born Screaming, a testament to her ever-evolving artistry.
Punk rock fans are in for a treat with Californian icons The Offspring making a one-night-only appearance at the Forum. This exclusive gig offers a rare opportunity to see the band in a more intimate setting. A stark contrast to the stadium-sized crowds they typically draw.
Australian music will also take centre stage, with beloved singer-songwriter Missy Higgins headlining a special performance at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Celebrating 20 years since her debut album The Sound of White. Higgins joined by Dan Sultan and Mia Wray. Rounding out a lineup that promises to be a memorable evening under the stars.
For those who enjoy the synergy of music and history, Tina Arena will celebrate the 30th anniversary of her iconic album Don’t Ask at Mornington Racecourse. Supported by artists like Richard Marx, Daryl Braithwaite, and Kate Ceberano. This outdoor concert will be a nostalgic trip down memory lane, featuring hits like “Sorrento Moon” and “Chains.”
Cutting-Edge and Contemporary Sounds
Always Live 2024 isn’t just about nostalgia; it’s also a showcase for cutting-edge talent. Electronic music fans, watch out for Anyma’s debut Australian performance. Known for his innovative live shows, Anyma will bring his Genesys tour to Victoria. Promising an immersive experience that blends music with eye-popping visuals. Anyma was one of the stand out acts of Coachella 2024.
Roísín Murphy, the former Moloko vocalist turned solo artist, will headline the LGBTQIA+ friendly TRAMP party at PICA. Joined by a diverse lineup including US rapper Rico Nasty and British DJ Bimini.
Chet Faker will also return to the stage at the Royal Botanic Gardens. Marking the 10th anniversary of his ARIA-winning album Built On Glass. Supported by Mildlife, this event is set against the serene backdrop of the gardens. Offering a unique blend of nature and music.

First Nations and Regional Celebrations
Always Live 2024 also proudly showcases First Nations talent with BLAKTIVISM. A powerful event at Hamer Hall headlined by the dynamic Baker Boy. The lineup includes a host of Indigenous artists. Each bringing their own voice to the stage in a celebration of culture and identity.
Regional Victoria won’t miss out on the action either. The Push and triple j Unearthed have partnered to bring an all-ages tour featuring emerging talents like The Rions, Jem Cassar-Daley, and Becca Hatch to towns like Horsham, Wangaratta, Geelong, and Bendigo.

From the Luliepalooza mini-festival at Lulie Street Tavern featuring Starcrawler and Cash Savage & The Last Drinks.
