Both the Birdsville Big Red Bash and Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash offer much more than just music. They are a bucket-list experience for intrepid festival travelers and a beacon of community spirit for the surrounding regional areas. These events provide the ultimate escape from the hustle and bustle of urban living.
Big Red Bash 2024 Headliners
In 2024, the Big Red Bash will be headlined by two icons of Australian entertainment: Tina Arena and Jon Stevens. Tina Arena, known for hits like “Chains” and “Sorrento Moon (I Remember),” expressed her excitement about performing in front of a 30-meter-high sand dune in the Simpson Desert. Jon Stevens, of Noiseworks and INXS fame, will also be breaking his outback performance cherry at this event.
A Star-Studded Lineup
Both events will feature a stellar lineup of Australian music legends, including Ian Moss, Tim Finn, Diesel, Baby Animals, Vanessa Amorosi, Mark Seymour, Richard Clapton, Casey Barnes, Shane Howard, Pierce Brothers, Bjorn Again, Chocolate Starfish, The Rolling Stones Revue, Furnace & the Fundamentals, Ash Grunwald, Fanny Lumdsen, Sarah McLeod, and Hayley Mary.
Special Performances
Birdsville will host Colin Hay, Mi-Sex, Steve Balbi, and Amy Ryan, while Broken Hill will see The Living End, Daryl Braithwaite, Mundi Mundi Bash Band, and Tha Boiz, Leroy Johnson & The Waterbag Band take the stage.
Exciting Activities Off Stage
Both events offer a wide-ranging program of outback activities, ensuring there’s never a dull moment. From Nutbush City Limits World Record dance-offs to Mad Max costume dress-up world record attempts, sunrise sand dune yoga, dunny door painting, comedy and outdoor film screenings, scenic helicopter flights, camel rides, and charity initiatives like the Bashville Drags and Mundi Undie Run – there’s something for everyone.
The Big Blue Day
A highlight of the 2023 Big Red Bash, the Big Blue Day is set to return in 2024. This event aims to break the world record for the largest human image of a country, with participants dressed head to toe in blue. Birdsville’s Big Red Bash will partner with JDRF, and the Mundi Mundi Bash will partner with Beyond Blue for this charitable endeavor.

Mundi Mundi Bash 2024 Headliners
At the Mundi Mundi Bash, rock-folk troubadour James Reyne, known for hits like “Reckless” and “Way Out West,” will headline proceedings. This will be his first time at this iconic event, and he invites you to join him in the endless Mundi Mundi desert plains, just out of Silverton, north of Broken Hill. Jon Stevens is also billed for the Broken Hill music festival.
