Australian rock band Jet will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their iconic debut album, Get Born, with an exclusive run of dates in May and June 2024. This tour promises to be a special one, as Jet will be performing Get Born in its entirety, treating fans to timeless tracks like “Are You Gonna Be My Girl,” “Look What You’ve Done,” and “Rollover DJ” that still sound as invigorating today as they did two decades ago.
Reflecting on the album, Nic Cester said, “Get Born was a rare and unique moment of total planetary alignment where we somehow managed to capture lighting in a bottle.” Mark Wilson added, “2003 was one big blurry haze for me.”
Jet Success
Get Born was a massive success, scoring six ARIA Awards and being certified 9 times platinum in Australia. It was also a hit internationally, topping both the US Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts. Jet’s success led them to tour with legendary bands like the Rolling Stones, Oasis, and Kings Of Leon, with worldwide album sales exceeding 5 million.
After disbanding in 2012, Jet briefly reformed in 2017 for shows with Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band, followed by a triumphant appearance at the Fuji Rock festival in Japan and sold-out shows at Sydney and Melbourne Zoos. The overwhelming response from fans indicated that the demand for Jet was stronger than ever.
Jet consists of Nic Cester (vocals/guitar), Chris Cester (vocals/drums), Cam Muncey (vocals/guitar), and Mark Wilson (bass). Formed in Melbourne in the late ’90s, Jet released their first EP, “Dirty Sweet,” in 2002, followed by “Shine On” in 2006 and “Shaka Rock” in 2009. After their induction into the 2023 ARIA Hall Of Fame, Jet continues to be a powerhouse in the Australian music scene, captivating audiences with their electrifying performances and timeless music.
